How To Grow A Garden On A Budget.

Here it is August and I haven't showed you are garden in a long time. I want to share with ya'll how we created a garden on a budget. Sometimes gardens can become overwhelming. Especially if your starting with a clean slate. My advice is don't over think it. Begin by gathering a few photos of spaces you love. Then decide on how much work and time you want to spend in the garden. Once you have that figured out I would say write down 2 of your favorite shade trees, 2 of  your favorite ornamental trees, then to start with at least 2 shrubs types, and 5 plants. This is a good foundation to start with.

I want to first point out that we live in Northeast Florida so my plant choices match my zone 9a/9b. It is very important that you choose plants that will thrive in your region. This is a common rookie mistake (I make it all the time), you fall in love with a plant spend lots of money on them and they die in the heat/cold.

Take a look at my garden it is informal and I tend to plant in groups and I repeat the groups down my border. Filling in with my favorites along the way. This gives you a planned garden that's informal, but still flows nicely from beginning to end.

Toasted Marshmellow Milkshake

Well sometimes you watch TV with your family and the most amazing dessert comes across your screen courtesy of  The Cooking Chanel. People that's how you end up sipping on a Toasted Marshmellow Milkshake at 10:00 pm. Yes that was us a couple nights ago. I totally didn't even mind though. I enjoy their company and love giving them these little gifts. If your looking for a great dessert then try this simple recipe.

Ingredients:
15 Marshmellows
1 cup of mill
5 fat scoops of a rich vanilla ice cream.
2 crushed graham crackers

Step 1. Toast marshmellows (we like ours dark) using a blow torch.
Step 2. Add all ingredients into a blender and press start.
Step 3. Pour into a cold glass and top with a few toasted marshmellows and a graham cracker.

Wednesday Wishes.

Good Morning lovely friends. Ahhhhh today I thought I would share my travel wishes. Right now my family and I would jump at a fat, beach, resort vacation. One where we could plunge in the pool, dream in a cabana, and sip on sweet, fruity cocktails. For the second time this summer our A/C died. In Florida people....

Black Walls and Making A Statement.

With our kitchen renovation nearing it's end. I have been thinking of  ways to add a little drama to the breakfast room that is apart of the kitchen. I have gone back and forth with the light and dark contrast options. When we first moved in I had my heart set on black walls. Then it changed to a pale gray. This pass weekend I think we both have agreed on black walls. There isn't much wall space in the kitchen at all and the breakfast room has a large window and french doors. Here's a couple pics that got my guy to climb on board the black wall train.

How To Paint Your Kitchen Counters and A Sneak.

We decided to paint our countertops. SAY WHAT!!! We sure did. It's so easy and cost effective. They have been painted for a couple of months now and so far, so good. I am all kinds of thrilled with the results. We could only afford to switch to laminate counters right now and since we already had those....Well that would have been a waste. So how about a easy peezy project for my friends. There are many, many paint your countertop tutorials out there. This is how we did ours. We choose to do a grey marble look. I didn't want granite if I had the cash so I went with something similar to what I would have wanted. However I have seen the granite versions and they are awesome.
