Mirror Mirror On The Wall.

Who's The Prettiest Of Them All.

Mirrors to me bring a sense of romance and mystery. Don't you just love walking into old rooms with antique, leaning mirrors. That romantic feel of being taken away never gets old to me. This weekend we will be working on a fabulous mirror project. For now here's some pretty inspiration that got my wheels turning.

Thank You To Our Fallen Soldiers and Proud Military Household.

My family and I would like to thank all the service women and men who have lost their lives fighting for our safety and freedom. Also thanks to those who are currently serving our country. There is nothing like being in the military. They give so much of their time and life to the work that they do and we are so grateful. Thank you to all those in my family who have served and are still serving.

My husband has been in the service for 15 years. He is a Navy Chief and proud to be a serviceman. I've never really had to be to scared when he's called to duty because normally he is on a ship. However last year he was on the USS Vinson and well we all know what that ship did for our country last year. And when they started getting threats and had to go on lock down, it got a little bit tougher. I also gave birth to Holden while Donnie was away and he didn't meet him until he was 6 months old. So again thanks to all the men and women who sacrifice so much to be apart of our wonderful military.

Here's a picture of the first time Donnie and Holden meet.

Watch Me Grow.

Please won't ya watch me grow. Our garden is only a couple months old, yet she has provided us with so much fun. Lola and Louis run back and forth chasing squirrels. The guys play football and dodge the powder puff tree. We started working on the yard this pass March when we replaced the sod in the backyard. Fencing had already been installed by Mr. Fix It (hubby) last August. It had been driving me insane so we decided to put nice flowing beds in to fill in over time and hide some of the fencing. Yesterday we weeded and brought bags of new soil. Today we moved 8 rose bushes to new locations that they will do better in. Sadly my camellias are under all the shade we have and they still don't like their location. I just wanna cry every time I look at them. Instead I will give them to my neighbor because she is smack in the middle of the pines, while I just get the very tip of the pine forest. We have planted 6 trees across the back and only 2 are of the same kind. I'm usually a stinker about having to many different varieties, but at this house I just wanted trees we loved. Hopefully next year we will have our patio and veggie garden done in the side yard. Gotta take advantage of every square inch. Here are some shots of the back yard. Please enjoy and watch my gardens grow over time. I'll be sure to post many updates over the next couple of years.

Small Mimosa Tree. Smells like Heaven.

Climbing Americas Rose on the Pillars. They rarely last I bring them in to enjoy.

Looking towards my neighbors yard. I love all the trees. They only cover half of my yard the rest is exposed to sun and houses.

Picnic For My Guys On Photo Day.

Not a wide yard, but it's long. At the end is my Purple Orchid Tree.

BTW ~ I'm 20 minutes from St. Augustine antique stores. Hopefully we will make it tomorrow.

ALSO ~ Don't forget to remember the men and women who have served our country and lost so that we may enjoy our freedom. We will always keep those who serve in our Prayers in this house. Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend.

Chandelier, chandeliers and more chandeliers.

So with my work on the FDR in full effect I finally ordered a chandelier and light sconces. I couldn't be happier. Well I could be had Mr. you know who (hubby) not been so sad to see his new PS3 dreams go out the window ( I mean really still at 34.....LOL). Okay back on track. I have been scouring the internet and all my catalogs for about 5 months just to get an idea of what I was wanting. I knew I was on a major budget and timeline so I had to get this ordered fast. In the end I found what I wanted and in my price range (well not really but I got so excited I gave in). My budget would have been flea market find, but we have been to busy for our weekend drives. We ended up getting the Quorum Salento 6 light fixture. I found it on Horchow, but as always.... before I buy I google the product number to compare prices (this is the easiest way to  save yourself a few bucks). Well it just so happened that about a week ago or so Joss and Main  had it for less than anyone else. Here is some eyecandy of the lighting sorts that caught my eye. I hope they catch yours too. `)

Quorum Salento Series

The last two pictures are the lovelies that will be hanging in my formal dining room. Whoop Whoop. As you can tell I'm over excited AGAIN.....I get a lot of that sometimes.

Family Photo Update

Oh My Goodness we got to view some of the photos she released on her facebook page for Brandi Compton Photography. Here's a couple. I looooooooovvvvvvveeeee these photos. Brandi girl your gonna get sick of taking pics of my family. Holiday themes are already rolling around in my head.  I am not going to be able to pick just a few for print......Poor Hubster. I had plenty of fun just getting ready for this shoot. I had lots of vintage scrap fabric so I made banners. Those are $5 walmart sheets hangn on the fence. And the quilt we are laying on is $26 walmart find. Of course it's just a print, but I love it all the same. Lying across the table is a cloth made for a square table, therefore I placed a sheet underneath it. Those cupcakes and hydrangeas are on the dessert tray tutorial featured on my site. I was a little nervous b/c my garden is new and hasn't filled in. It was stunning though. I wanted a dessert picnic, but with all my favorite items from around the house scattered about.

Thats my little brother Velvet, Gabe, Myself, Holden Lane, and Donnie.

Picture Sneaks

Yesterday was wonderful. The rain didn't show up.....Thank You Jesus. My boys all looked so handsome and had such a blasts. They kinda new that I wanted a picnic, but didn't know I was gonna dress the yard up as much. I am no picture taker, but I am going to start practicing this summer. So I will give you a little sneak peak, but the professional pictures should be back soon. By the way check out Brandi Compton Photography. She was very patient with my family and such a professional. Holden had so much fun interacting with Brandi.

This was after the photo shoot so things are moved around, but you get the picture.

Picture Day.

I would like to be one of  those people who doesn't get so darn excited. I'M NOT. I CAN'T......sad but true. This Saturday afternoon is our family picture day. Originally we were going to do them late afternoon at a park near my home. It has a beautiful pier and a long trail. It's been raining cats and dogs for 3 days, so I rescheduled to take them in my backyard. Our backyard is new. The house isn't new, but the garden is. We had to fence in part of the yard and the other half  backs up to a beautiful preserve. So no fence went up in that area, I refused to loose the view. We have worked so hard over the last 4 months adding trees, new sod and flowing flower beds. However she just isn't picture perfect.......Come this Saturday she will be though.....picture perfect that is. I can't wait for Saturday evening to get here. Let's just say it's a dessert party picnic for my boys, the yard will be overflowing with sugar. Make sure you come back Sunday for a sneek peak of our pictures.
Meet Louis Le Grande..........He will be there too.

Dessert Tray Tutorial

First I would like to explain that I love dessert trays. I wish I had more places to show them off. Recently over the holidays in one of my favorite magazines I saw an antique wood 3-tier dessert tray and DROOOOOOOLED. So here are a couple inspirational pictures and then a tutorial on how to save money and make your own.

This is a long post and I apologize but well worth the read. I promise.

Heres a list of goods:
1. 3 terra cotta trays in descending sizes such as 5", 8", and 12".
2. 3 furniture legs in descending sizes.
3. Hot glue gun.
4. leftover paint colors from other projects around the house.
5a. Remove the metal ends with a man tool (I had Mr. Fix It take care of this step).
5b. Glue smallest furniture leg to the top of smallest tray
6. Glue medium furniture leg to the bottom of the smallest tray. This makes 1st section.
7. Glue the 1st section to the top of medium tray. This is now 1st section.
8. Glue largest furniture leg to the top of largest tray. This is 2nd section.
9. Now glue bottom of section 1 to the top of section 2.
10. Paint as desired.
11. Food Safe Seal.
12. Don't know my final tally, but is about $20 to make them.
13. make it costs less by shopping when HD/Lowe's are having sales on their pots.

Here are my pictures as I went along.

I actually had some finials from a old 4 poster bed that I gave away and I decided to use them as my top.

TAAADAAAH

I painted ours to look like old, blue stone. I love them and the next time you see them they will be covered in sweet treats and roses alike. I hope this tutorial was helpful.
