Here's What I'd Like To Achieve.

Seeing as though I am working on our Family Room I decided to go looking through some of my favorite sites looking for inspiration. I want a laid back feel to our space. I want lots of texture and muted colors. I want layers and the feeling that I found some of our decor in antique stores or flea markets. There was a time when I brought all of our goods brand new. While I still like some new items, these days I think a home needs a fair amount of old to complete it. This isn't going to be a project we complete overnight and I am okay with that. I know where I am going and the feeling that I am wanting in our space. Our family room has great bones and that's half the challenge. I found some great cushions at ballard designs that I know I'm going to love. Can't wait to see them in our space. A couple months back we ordered cement tiles that we are going to be using in our kitchen remodel. They are so divine and those ballard design cushions are only gonna make them look better. Anywhoot here's a few photos that are leading me in the right direction. I don't want to be exactly like these rooms, but if  I could it would be room 1.

P.S. My old facebook had to be changed so please if you would on my blog homepage click on the FB icon and it will take you to my new facebook page. Or you can head over to www.facebook.com/GLH1980.

P.S.S. Hubby walked in the door and now I can go pick out the top my bookcase cabinets. Thanks so much everyone for coming  along on this journey.  We appreciate it more than you can ever know.

Cheers!

Hello everyone and good afternoon. Today I thought I would share with you a great Fall/Halloween project I worked on this past Saturday. We love fall in this house. We go all out with candles, hearty soups and long movies together. I love the way the air feels during the fall season and the change of the leaves. I can't wait. So I thought I would get a good head start on making some projects over the next couple weeks. That way we can be all ready for a wonderful season full of cheer.

POTTERY BARN
I got my inspriration from KariAnne over at ThistlewoodFarms when she posted her lovely  hand-written towels. I thought to myself oh I can do that, but I needed it to relate to the projects I'm currently working on. Then Debbie at debbidoo's posted a copy-cat-challenge. Then it clicked. Every year I wish I could just have Pottery Barn come load up my house with all their gorgeous decor. I mean seriously every single vignette is peferct and puts us in the holiday mood. This year I will be making most of my own decor, but I thought finding a simple vignette to copy couldn't be difficult and they always have great napkins.

So I drove to the local Walmart purchased my $4.98 Flour Sack Towels and came home. Then I found some pictures that would work for my project on google and saved them to my laptop. Next I choose the words and font I thought would look great. I printed my materials up on regular paper. Grabbed my seat at the kitchen table, placed my towel over my taped down picture, sat a flash light facing up in my lap and begin to draw my image with a black sharpie.

This was fun and easy and they are going to be very cute on my table scape.

Folding In My New Laundry Room.

OOPS I SENT THIS EARLIER W/OUT PICS.
Greetings all my lovely friends. I have been so busy. Chasing Holden and trying to enjoy this summer. I have been very relaxed on blogging for a couple weeks. I missed commenting on everyones post so much. However it allowed me to get two projects completed and a room reveal. It also allowed me to work on the backyard flower beds a little.

I love my DIY projects, but I want to be able to bring you completed spaces also. I know I love a completed room no matter how big or small the room happens to be. We started tackling our laundry room and it's finally complete. This all began when I was reading through sugarpiefarmhouse blog and found her recipe for laundry soap. I can now fold clothes and fell as though I am in a pretty space. I live in a house full of guys, so I decided I needed a pretty laundry room with a girly splash of color. I can't commit to a daring color on my walls, but I can commit to painting my laundry room door in CORAL. We already had our washer/dryer. Originally we were gonna buy cabinets to replace the wire shelf, but decided to wait until we do our kitchen b/c then we will have extra cabinets to repurpose. Therefore I had to come up with a clever way to hide my mess soaps. I already have pleanty of curtain rods and hardware. So I just needed to purchase a cute shower curtain. Then I decided that I still didn't like the wire shelf. So I took a old IKEA LACK shelf cut it down to size and painted it white. For extra support I brought two $5 corbels from Home Depot. I then painted those corbels in ASCP Olive w/ a little dark wax for aging. The wooden clothes pins are old and I got them from Pottery Barn about 7 years ago. I wanted art to cover our Cat-5 box, but wasn't sure what I wanted. So I made this little laundry sign with canvas and art supplies from Micheal's. This was a fun project for me. I spend a lot of time doing laundry and I needed a lovely area to do it in. I'm enjoying my little space and tiny it is, but pretty, pretty.

ENJOY

Before

BTW~ I brought two $2.94 Behr Coral paint samples, $24.99 shower curtain, I spent $10 on art, and $10 for the corbels. So this was definitely a budget project.
